GOD'S WAY > OUR WAY

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. " Proverbs 3:5-8

Choosing to walk with God is deciding to accept that God's way and the seemingly logical way are not always the same thing.

As I look back on my life, I will admit that most of the decisions I have made were made because they seemed right to me. They made sense, they seemed logical and got many votes in the panel of sensible and reliable friends and family, so I went ahead.

I don't know where you're at on this matter, but for me, I am learning to be intentional in acknowledging God and seeking His opinion on how to proceed.

"And David inquired of the Lord, "shall I pursue this raiding party? Will I overtake them?" "Pursue them", he answered. "You will certainly overtake them and succeed in the rescue." I Samuel 30:8

I have found it is easier to tarry in God's presence, waiting and desperately listening for His voice when I am absolutely clueless, however, when reverse is the case, I don't even give Him a thought, I move ahead. Fueled by the pride of knowing, I do not stop to ask His opinion. Thus, on several occasions, I have come to know firsthand that the way that seems right is not always the godly way.

We are to acknowledge God in ALL our ways, and it takes trust and humility to do so indeed.
You see, it takes trust to submit our seemingly practical and (most at times) immediate plans to Him. It takes humility to forego ALL we know (or think we know) and instead ask for His opinion.
In fact, imagine going to God before going to the drawing board. I believe this is what it means to acknowledge Him in all our ways. It is in this action we show we truly trust him.

"The foolishness of God is wiser than men..." I Corinthians 1:25a

I don't know about you, but I don't want to miss my way anymore. I want to walk on a path confident that that is the road He bid me follow. I want the Lord to direct ALL my path so that even when I face challenges in the way, I can continue rest assured I am on the best way. I want to be like the little girl in the image above, looking up to her father, holding tightly to his hand, trusting she will not be led astray.

Dear Lord, help us to always remember just how much you love us and want the best for us. Help us to understand yours is the best and perfect way. May this cause us to trust and acknowledge you in all our ways. Amen.
