ENCOURAGEMENT FOR THE LONELY

In the last post, we shared practical tips to help you overcome loneliness. If you missed it, please click here to read it, and then come back to this.

If you're feeling lonely, I hope reading this feels like a balm to your soul. I hope today's post fill your heart with hope and encouragement during this time.

HOW DOES GOD FEEL ABOUT MY LONELINESS?
Do you know that it is not God's desire for man to be alone? We see this in Genesis 2:18. That is why God created a companion for man. The living things God created, he created in twos- for companionship and procreation.

Even when sin separated man from God (Isaiah 59:2), God sent Jesus to repair that relationship. He sent Jesus to reconcile man back to Him (2 Corinthians 5:18). Please know and believe this- we were created for relationships- relationships beyond romantic ones. So if you are single reading this, feeling like loneliness is the cross you have to bear as a single person without a romantic partner, you are wrong.

When Jesus was about to be crucified, he told the disciples about the Holy Spirit who would come and dwell in them, to be an ever-present companion and helper (John 14:16-17, I john 4:13).

So if you feel lonely or alone, I want to remind you of God's heart towards you. It is not His desire that you should be alone or lonely. When you feel like no one sees you, hears you, wants you or loves you, I want to remind you today that God does. You are never alone.

You may feel that there is no one out there that gets you or understands your plight. That is also a lie from the devil distorting your reality. When Elijah was running from Jezebel, he thought he was the only one of his kind left (1 Kings 19:10). God then revealed to him that there were many others just like him (1 Kings 19:18). Many others that understood his plight. Many other prophets were on the same journey and assignment as him!

So if you are in a circle, or a situation where you feel you are by yourself, misunderstood, alienated, weird or different. You may just need the Lord to reveal your people to you. You may just need the Holy Spirit to help lead you/connect you to the right people. You may simply be in the wrong circle.
In Elijah's story, we also see that God cares for the lonely. He ministers to those who are alone.

Take courage today. You are not alone. You can overcome loneliness.

Oh, watch how you will bloom when the right people come into your life!

SCRIPTURES TO REMEMBER WHEN YOU FEEL LONELY OR ALONE

When the devil whispers loneliness and aloneness, let these scriptures ring with a louder conviction to drown those lies. Please meditate on these scriptures and soak them in.

"See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;"
Isaiah 49:16a

"As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love."
John 15:9

"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him and dine with him, and he with me."
Revelations 3:20

"All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out."
John 6:37

"What shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?"
Romans 8:35

"But now in Christ Jesus, you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ."
Ephesians 2:13

"For through Him, we both have access to one Spirit to the Father."
Ephesians 2:18

"Then Jesus said, Come to Me, all you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest."
Matthew 11:28

"Teach these new disciples to obey all commands I have given you. And be sure of one this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
Mathew 28:20

Remember, the light of the presence of the Lord disperses the triggers of loneliness. The dark clouds that loneliness brings cannot withstand the joy, companionship and light of God.
