SAVED. NOW WHAT?

"If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10: 9

As I write this, Is That All There Is, a song by Peggy Lee comes to mind.
Saved. Now what?
So, I have given my life to Jesus, I believe I am saved, now what?
Is that all there is?

I feel this is a heavily loaded and broad topic, one which I am not very qualified to speak on. I am only writing about this because it is a question I have asked myself in the past and still think about once in a while. The aim of this post is to bring this question to light, to tell you that your question is relatable, and to point you towards the answer.

This question haunted me a lot back in the day. I felt that being saved, I entered into a contract but did not fully read or know the terms. I knew it was a free gift, I was now a part of God's family, belonging to His Kingdom. BUT, is that all there is? Besides now living a righteous and holy life, what else is there? Do I just stay holy and wait until the coming of Jesus?

Simply put, is that all there is?

PURPOSE.

If you are asking this question now, PURPOSE is what plagues you. You are tired of going through the motions. You are thirsting for more, to be more, and to do more for God. That is great! You have reached a turning point in your walk with God! You are finally starting to get it.

A profound thing I have learned is that salvation is not the end of it. It is only the beginning. Salvation basically welcomes us into the kingdom of God but that is not where it all ends. We still need to study the constitution of this Kingdom (the Bible) to fully live the best life Christ has for us. It is only then that we get ALL there is.

Personally, while on earth, I want to enjoy my walk with God. I want to live a purposeful Christian life. I want to make an impact. I want to contribute to His Kingdom, in any way I can. I want to get to Heaven and say to God, I had so much fun with you while on earth.

Let getting to heaven be the icing on the cake and not the entire cake.

If getting to Heaven is all there is for you about your salvation, I want to tell you that that is not all there is. Discover more by taking a look at your contract (the Bible) to get out all there is to this new life you have in Christ. If that is too intimidating for you, grab a copy of A Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren, listen to sermons by the likes of Late Dr. Myles Monroe and let that incite a thirst in you that pushes you to the Bible.
